Hi Island Lake Parents!  It was with great sadness that we bid farewell to our ILC family on August 18th.  We truly enjoyed spending an AMAZING summer with all of our campers and staff.  Was summer 2014 the best because of our incredibly awesome counselors?  Was it because we had the greatest group leaders, department heads, and head counselors ever?  Was it our fantastic teen trip to Toronto and Niagara Falls?  Could it be because of the fun theme days and evening activities such as Counselor Switch Day and Revival Night?  Or was it because we had the coolest, happiest, most amazing campers ever?  We are sure it was a combination of all of these things that made this summer so special.  One thing we can tell you with all sincerity is that this was one of our BEST ILC SUMMERS YET!!!

We’d like to thank you for your wonderful calls, letters, and emails regarding this past summer.  These generous gestures mean a great deal to us.  Now go get a pen and paper to save the date for our annual camp reunion, which will be held on Saturday, November 22^nd at SportimeUSA in Elmsford, NY.  Details are in our September newsletter and we hope our campers can all make it!

Registration for Summer 2015 has exceeded last years’ enrollment at this point in time. We’re thrilled to know that we had so many happy campers with us this year. Remember, camp fills early! If you have not yet registered, please do so immediately so you can take advantage of our Pre-November 1st rates and avoid being closed out later on. We don’t like turning campers away so pleasedon’t hold off too long.

Cancellations can be made through January 1st and we will refund all of your money less the $100 enrollment fee. You will save more than $100 if you re-enroll now, so financially it makes sense to hold a spot and be guaranteed another summer of fun. Remember, there is a rate increase on November 1st.

Well, those three torturous words, “back to school,” have already become a reality for some of our campers and the remainder will be stuck behind a school desk shortly, daydreaming about their Island Lake experience. We wish you all a wonderful and healthy school year .  Now your campers can start their countdown until next summer when I-L-C U in Starrucca, PA once again!

Hey ILC parents,…This is it!  Summer is just about here and we are happy to report that as of June 1^st we are back at camp once again!  Words cannot even begin to explain how wonderful it feels to return to our home away from home.  We are sooooo EXCITED for your children’s arrival on June 28^th.  We have amazing plans for this summer including new evening activities, an awesome Color War theme, Tribals, a teen trip to Toronto and Niagara Falls in session 3, and much more.  Let us just say, we have some awesome plans to make summer 2014 the GREATEST, and we cannot wait to share it all with your children!

Summer 2014 parents, have you sent us all of your forms yet?  Please make sure we have received your children’s profile, medical, and transportation forms, as well as your travel itinerary if you plan to be away while your kids are here at camp.  You can fill out the profile and transportation forms directly online by logging into your CampMinder account.  The medical form is not on our website so please be sure to fill out the form enclosed in your folder.  If you misplaced it, just click “Forms & Mailings” in the “Families” section of our website to download a new one. 

Speaking of photos and emails, don’t forget that by registering with CampMinder you can view our daily summer photos and weekly videos, as well as send emails to your children.  We ask that only immediate family members email our campers because too much information from home can create unnecessary homesickness.

Now that we are back up at camp, please be sure to mail any outstanding forms or payments directly to our SUMMER ADDRESS in Starrucca, PA.  Do not use the New York return envelopes any longer, as that mail takes awhile to be forwarded to us at camp.

If your child is enrolled for summer 2014 at Island Lake, please be sure to fill out your Profile and Transportation Forms, either by filling out the hard copies you received in your folder or fill out the forms right here on our website.  All forms were due on May 1^st.  If you choose to fill them out online, just click the “CampMinder Login” and either enter your email address and password or click “First Time Users- Create Account.” The Medical Form is not on our website so please be sure to fill out the form enclosed in your folder and mail it back to us as soon as possible.

By now you should have received your “Spring Mailing” in the postal mail.  Enclosed in this mailing is your Parent Handbook, Camper Handbook, Activities Handbook, Medication Policy letter, travel itinerary form, Open House flyer (if your child is a 1^st time camper this summer), as well as a flyer about our online photos, videos, & emails.  Whether you are returning or are new to the Island Lake family, please make sure you and your child(ren) take a few minutes to sit down and read this spring mailing thoroughly, as we always add new information.

Happy March!  As we sit here in our winter office with tons of snow outside our windows, it feels as though summer 2013 is a distant, yet fond, memory.  However, our summer 2014 countdown has kicked into gear and lucky for us, summer, and for that matter camp, will approach before we know it.

All summer 2014 families will receive your annual Island Lake folder any day now. This folder contains TONS of information to prepare you and your children for this summer.  There are forms inclosed that we request you return to us promptly. The Profile Form helps us guide your children when they choose their activities and put together their schedules. The Medical Form must be completed by both a parent and a physician, as required by Pennsylvania law. The Transportation Form lets us know which bus your children will be taking to camp. If we do not receive the Transportation Form in our office by May 1st, we will have to assign a bus to your children. In June, we will send you detailed information on the bus locations, along with luggage tags that you will use to mark your children’s bags. If you misplace any of your forms, they will be available for download here on our website. You can access them by clicking on ‘Forms & Mailings’ to you left-hand side of this page. There will also be information in the folder instructing you how to fill out the transportation and profile forms on-line.

We are currently looking for doctors and a nurse to fill our health center positions in the 3^rd session of camp this summer.  The session is two weeks long so we can accommodate up to 2 doctors, 1 per week.  We’re also looking for a nurse for the full 2 week session.  If you are a doctor, a registered nurse, or you have friends who are and are interested in working at the greatest place on earth (that would be Island Lake, but of course), please contact Trip at trip@islandlake.com. Hey ILC Parents…We hope you and your children had a fun-filled, safe Halloween. We’d love to post photos on our blog of our campers in their Halloween costumes. All of us in the ILC winter offices are very excited for our camp reunion on November 23rd at Sportime USA in Elmsford, NY. The reunion will be held from 10am until 1pm and details are provided in our monthly newsletters. We look forward to seeing many of our summer 2013 campers and staff there on that date, no RSVP necessary.

We are excited to announce that we now have a wonderful Island Lake App for your iPhones and iPads. Sorry but the app has been developed for Apple products only, not for Droids and BlackBerrys. We hope all of our campers, parents, and staff have already downloaded our app and have taken advantage of all of the amazing features it entails. You can check out this past summer’s photos, videos, read our monthly newsletters, and even log onto your CampMinder account, which will come in handy next summer while your children are with us at camp. The home screen of our app even has a countdown of the number of days until summer 2014 begins. Definitely take advantage of our new app if you haven’t already checked it out. We’re really proud of it!

By now, all of our camper families should have received their Island Lake Video Yearbook on dvd. We hope you and your children have taken the opportunity to watch this amazing video filled with many exciting summer activities and memories. For over an hour, you can forget about all that’s going on around you and truly feel a part of the ILC experience.

Believe it or not, registration is over 50% full already. If you have no yet registered your child(ren) for summer 2014, please don’t put it off any longer!
